Audio-Tokens

Published:

Working in the lab of Denise Klein, I was involved in multiple studies where participants had to rate, sort or compare audio recordings from different speakers, e.g. second-language learners, bilingual speakers, etc. In behavioral experiments, participants are usually presented with an audio recording and subsequently asked to rate it on one or multiple dimensions. We tried to come up with more efficient methods to collect those ratings, allowing e.g. multiple recordings to be rated/sorted/compared at the same time. This resulted in a set of Javascript tools, that we now want to share publicly. The main feature of the toolbox is that audio recordings are associated with visual tokens that control audio playback and can be manipulated using mouse click-and-drag in order to place a rating.
